General Classification of Signs
The signs of the reappearance are divided into two general categories: Certain (definitely occurring) and Uncertain (conditional).
Certain Signs (5 Signs)
Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said: "Before the rising of the Qa'im, there are five certain signs: the Yamani, the Sufyani, the Heavenly Cry, the killing of the Pure Soul, and the sinking of the earth at Bayda."
The Rising of the Sufyani
The rising of a person from the descendants of Abu Sufyan in the region of Sham (Syria). He raises the banner of misguidance and creates sedition and corruption. His army will sink into the earth at Bayda by divine command.
The Rising of the Yamani
The rising of a person from Yemen who raises the banner of guidance. The Yamani is among the believers and companions of Imam Mahdi (AS) and prepares the ground for the reappearance.
The Heavenly Cry
A powerful voice from the sky that all people hear. Its content is: "The truth is with the family of Muhammad". It awakens and informs the people.
The Killing of the Pure Soul
The killing of a person from the descendants of the Prophet (PBUH) in Mecca. A pure and virtuous person who is martyred unjustly.
The Sinking of the Earth at Bayda
The sinking of the Sufyani's army in the earth at the region of Bayda (between Mecca and Medina). The destruction of the army of misguidance and the victory of truth.
Uncertain Signs
Signs that occur if the conditions are met and obstacles are removed, and are not among the certainties; such as bloody wars, economic corruption, political disputes, moral deviations and widespread corruption.
Heavenly Signs
Solar Eclipse
Occurs on 13th or 14th of Ramadan.
Lunar Eclipse
Occurs on the first night of Ramadan.

Earthly Signs
The sinking at Bayda, the rising of the Yamani, the Khurasani, the Sufyani, bloody wars and great seditions.
General Signs (Conditions of the End Times)
- Spread of ignorance and decrease of knowledge
- Decrease of action and increase of recitation (without action)
- Increase of killing and bloodshed
- Decrease of true jurists and increase of corrupt jurists
- Spread of oppression and corruption
- Enjoining evil and forbidding good
